It’s worth it but its painful. I’m one room away from a place I could never have afforded otherwise. But tbf i’ll be paying for other stuff for years..doing windows one at a time etc.

As someone else said, take the hit and try snd carry a rental and a mortgage for a few months. Everything will overrun on your renovation - also try do it in Summer/Spring/ Autumn, not December -March like this dickhead did.

You could use the First Home Fund to bump up your deposit so you can use the cash to renovate instead. Govt own a bit of your gaff but you’ll still make cash out of it if you’re smart when doing it up
