How much work are you talking?

If it’s just carpets and painting that’s nothing. For some reason it puts the majority of people off, though.

Kitchen is obviously a bigger job and you’re talking thousands to just buy it, let alone install it. Bathrooms are the same, although generally more liveable as long as it’s functional.


We did our kitchen and carpets/painting in every room and bought at 20k under home report (£160k vs £180k). The work we did was less than £10k including the new kitchen. It took us about 2 months total and we did the majority of that before moving in. Someone did the kitchen and carpets for us and we did the wallpaper stripping (all 5 layers of it that clearly had never been done before), painting, and laminate flooring.
