Back where I used to live was a very residential area with mainly side streets, and there weren't much in the way of public bins once you got off the main road. You could walk for ages without seeing one.

This was a major pain in the arse when walking a dog and it was 15 minutes from my front door to the nearest dog poop bin.

Then that one got removed, meaning the next one was about 30 minutes away. A lot of dog walkers just started dumping bags on the ground where the bin used to be.

Turns out the people living on the street didn't want it there because it's an "eye sore" but hadn't considered that a literal pile of shite might be a bit worse. The bin came back after about a year.
