| Comment | I use Gumtree for furniture and such, the in the first lockdown I saw a sudden rush of ads for puppies and kittens. Puppies for sale for a couple of grand and kittens for up to £900. No references, no checks on seller or buyer. All I could think about is how much exploitation could be running rampant when there’s so much money at stake and so little regulation. And I have a horrible suspicion that even a lot of the healthy animals won’t fair well, rescue centres are bound to see a rush of pets that people took them on and no longer want them when life returns to normal. |
