Used to be common and the electrical company came and emptied it. A pain when you ran out of 50p coins. But I guess an early power card idea
I lived in a flat where it still had one but only cause the landlord charged me £10 for 20 x coins and when I used them I could by more. He had the key to empty so it was on mains but he had the old coin meter as a way of charging.
