Is your floor carpeted? This makes thing more effort but lifting the flooring isn't normally that big of a job, you will more than likely find that the floorboards have been cut/lifted in the past to install the central heating so these are normally lifted fairly easily. It can be time consuming but it's worth the effort.

You should also take this opportunity to fix any squeaky floor boards you have in the same area.
