I speak from experience of my daughter who has severe anxiety, don't think that medication is bad ( I read this from the way you say "medication eventually") , after 2 years of CBT and being told to pull herself together (she is 18, 16 when this started), medication has been the ONLY light in her tunnel. Our whole family is in tatters because of her illness, seek help my friend but don't think as we did that medication is bad or a "last resort", if tht is what you need, explain and just ask for it. Sometimes medication is the thing that can give you a chance to get back from the brink. You will not be thrown in an asylum.
