Yeah, the OV-chipkart is really good, it’s worth noting that the government just mandated it (as well as a number of other things) to make it happen.
There is however one thing to note, OV and Oyster were designed for a time when neither cash, nor plastic, could match RFID/NFC for speed. We’ve moved past that technologically now, in London for example you can tap in and out with your standard Debit or Credit card and the same pricing limitations are applied just as long as you use the same card all day.

The NL are card averse (outside of Amsterdam) and contactless took a very long time to be phased in. In addition they had something called chipknip which was for loading small despicable quantities of money onto a card for easy payment, and it was very underutilised. Overall NL will go the same way (except perhaps for the deal cards, and corporate cards, which actually, due to students tending to hop the train rather than move, and commuters often having a company backed season ticket, make up a lot of the passenger numbers).
