Think yourself lucky, I love Ireland but it's car centric over there, and they put thier distances in km's, weirdly seems to make the journey seem longer. No decent public transport outside of Dublin and even then I don't know how bad that is despite the trams
The public transport in glasgow is shit though, needs trams or just Worst Bus to fuck off
