Comment | We stumbled on the area I think they are reporting about. We used the abandoned Thornly Park sports campus for running during the first lockdown, totally empty and all roads/paths/grass areas were accessible to run around in.
After a few weeks the kids started hanging about, drinking in the abandoned student accommodation until they burned two of the blocks to the ground. A week after that I was running round the campus and had an out of breath security guard chasing me trying to get my attention. He said it's now off limits and I couldn't run there so I wandered under the old railway path, along a stream and makeshift bridge into some heavy woodland but with a path carved out.
Ended up in the woods behind dykebar and it was filled with broken bottles, beer cans and evidence of fires. I was amazed how quiet it was despite being next to a fairly busy road. I'm guessing the hospital security don't do patrols that far up. |
