The shadows fall from top left to bottom right. That means the photographer facing West in the middle of the day or North in the late day. If he is facing West could those hills be in the Greenock kind of area? Or if the photographer facing North could this be Dumbarton/Kilpatrick/Duntocher? Going East I think the hills just seem less steep to me.
