Comment | To some extent probably, well ok not actually but in general as far as I'm aware, in Victorian times the West end of UK cities were predominantly the wealthy parts. Due to prevailing winds in the UK going west to east, this caused pollution from factories to be normally blown over the east of cities. This is why the east end of cities across the UK are still predominantly the poorer parts. Perhaps this is an urban myth, but it does seem to hold true. |
