This is great work, and seriously good on you for doing this - you shouldn’t have to but I’m glad you did.

I’m getting sick of reading about the litter problem though. If it’s not Reddit, it’s FB or NextDoor. And if it’s not litter picks, it’s folk moaning about the state of Kelvingrove Park and not being allowed to drink in it this summer.

I’d say it’s pretty reasonable to assume everyone that has replied to this post, and others, doesn’t throw their crisp packet in a bush when they have finished. Folk that drop litter probably don’t read this and think “I’m a selfish prick and am going to change my ways”.

If you can take the time to post a response to any of these posts, please also email your local MP and councillor, and consider who you vote for and what they stand for. If you don’t know who they are and what they stand for, Google it.

Whilst work by public spirited locals is always to be commended, it doesn’t solve the problem. I don’t want my council tax to be spent on clearing other peoples shite up, or cleaning up a park after every sunny weekend. I don’t want to have to wait for police in an emergency because they’re standing at the gates of a park stopping cunts that don’t know how to behave.

The council are trying to cut costs and have been hit by Covid absences, both which are hitting the cleansing department. Don’t moan on Reddit without also telling your councillor and MP about it too, or nothing will change. An election is coming up. They know their job depends on getting the most votes, and we should let them know at every opportunity what they need to do to get those votes.
