Comment | We had that in our flat in Keir St - built some time before 1870. In those days the labour for stenciling was cheaper than wallpaper.
We covered it it over with lining paper, painted - and then recreated stenciling throughout the flat. We left one patch uncovered, for historical interest.
We also had the 1871 census data, which we got through Pollokshields Heritage. Fascinating stuff e.g. names of the Highland servants who slept in the kitchen recesses.
