I'm an international student and I just moved into my own flat. As soon as I left the viewing I expressed my interest and put down a deposit. They didn't request that I did, but I wanted it. I also don't have family here to act as a guarantor, so I offered to pay six months up front. I understand that not everyone can offer this. When I first moved here, I was able to rent a room in a shared house via spareroom. It's hard to get your own place. I literally emailed the letting agency as soon as I left. Had the deposit in by the time I got back to my place. This was in late December for a February move-in. I'm not sure how crazy Paisley is, but it's brutal here in Glasgow!
