| Comment | Newton. I had my share of bad letting agents, but those really cheeky bunch.
We rented a flat from them. The water heater was not plugged for the night rate. It was not plugged at all, because there was no night rate meter. So the only way to get hot water it was to use booster tank. Press the button, wait an hour, you can take a quick shower. Press the button again, wait an hour, you can do the dishes. Then press the button, so the other person can take shower as well... And so on.
All heating at day rate cost. I've been fighting with them for months to have that fixed, but they said that "previous tennant never complained" (it was a single lady living there before, perhaps it was enough for her).
Anyway, they finally fixed it (by coming unnanounced, using their own key and bursting into my bedroom where I was sleeping after working night shift, naked).
I asked them for compensation for all the extra power I used and the inconvnienience. They raised my rent, saying that "now the standard of the flat is higher, so I have to pay more". I asked if they are joking. They laughed at me, saying "as if you would move out after just 6 months".
I moved as I wanted to have nothing to do with those idiots any more. Not that they cared: they hired the flat to next person at 40 pounds more than I would pay them AFTER the raise... |
