Hello, queer Glaswegian here. The city is mostly fine. Two good areas I'd note are the west end (such as Woodlands, Kelvinside, Hyndland and others which surround the University of Glasgow) and the south side of the city. You'll find other LGBT+ people there. Naturally we are everywhere else too.

I recommend the fantastic queer bookshop Category is Books (they run weekly events when things are... normal). There is also the Pink Peacock cafe! Other places are in the process of opening up, such as QuTo (cafe) and Bonjour (bar / club which has a trans flag on it's sign!).

In terms of nightlife, the city centre has a collection of queer bars in Marchant City, like Katie's Bar, Speakeasy and Delcomica's and clubs are The Polo Lounge and AXM. Pride takes place in late summer, usually around June - August, and might actually take place this year (here's hoping!)

When it comes to safety, I would recommend staying away from the city centre when it gets dark or if you're on a night out have some pals with you. It's where I've had the most issues as have other queer people I know. I wouldn't go into parks at night either, but that's not rocket science. During the day you should be fine. People in general are alright, but you'll know when to stay away from certain people.

Hope you enjoy yourself!
