Short answer is I think it's kleptomaniacs who steal because they enjoy the sport of it rather than desire what they're stealing.

This isn't in Finnieston is it?
One of my friends lives there and there's an old man that goes around regularly stealing plants in the middle of the night. They have no idea who it is.

They have a neighbourhood watch type situation set up just for him, and one of them caught him with a Ring camera going down the stairwell to their basement flat door and unhooking a plant box and carting it off. It was something like 3am.

It's just so weird to me that this is a recurring thing. Stealing one or two plants alright, fair enough. But where is he going to keep the loot from nightly adventures around the area? He can't be keeping them for himself as it'd be pretty obvious if he decorates his own place with 30+ planters. I think he's just a bored old man and this is the only thing he knows can give him a rush.
