I lived at Mavisbank Gardens years ago and it was cut off then. Not only is it fenced at the bridge end (and tar paint was put on the fence to stop people climbing over) but also at the Quay end has no through path and there is a locked gate to get out onto the road up to paisley Road west. Even when I lived there I thought it was insane. As I understand it the genesis of it was folk were turning up underneath the windows of the flats and sitting getting pished in the gardens for the flats so they just cut the whole lot off. I would assume because that was cheaper than separating the walk way and the gardens. |
