Overseas investment in property in any country should be made illegal.
Greece was offering “Golden Visas” which meant if you spent €1m on property in Greece you got a Visa - consequently the Chinese were buying up 10x €100k properties at a time and then AirBnBing them out - it essentially priced a generation out of Athens who were born and raised there.
Biggest culprits in Glasgow for BTL overseas landlords are Pakistanis and the Chinese. It’ll be the HK crowd now they’ve been granted a right to reside here.
It grates me. I’m amazed it’s not tackled by MPs but even the socialists who claim to want class equality are balls deep in BTL. Corbyn’s son is a prime example. |
