because eating veal has never really been a big thing in the UK, this firmly cemented the idea in people's heads that veal = crates and animal abuse, as opposed to UK veal being rose veal, which is just beef slaughtered a bit younger.
(of course, the idea of slaughtering calves is still problematic of its own accord, but it's literally no different to eating bacon or lamb, they're all killed around the 4-6 month mark, so being opposed to veal only really makes sense if you're vegetarian across the board) |
