Beyond that though, I'd rather they just let all premises that already exist in Merchant City expand their outdoor seating - massively so.
No need to herd everyone into a single, purpose made site for outdoor eating/drinking.
The restaurants and pubs already exist. Just let them get on with it by pedestrianising many more streets and letting them set up tables outside. It should be the norm, rather than encouraging everyone to take to a converted car park to have a seat outside (which then takes business that could otherwise be going to those existing venues). |
