Thanks for the reply. We can insulate it. Standard advice is lift floor board. Install rockwool. Then thick underlay. Then laminate ontop. Also the sides of the laminate shouldn't be touching the walls or skirting but have a foam protection around it.

Problem is this costs Alot of money (and effort as I will be lifting the floorboards myself)

It is more for my neighbour, I did offer him if he wants to then chip in for the rock wool. Buts he's not too interested.
