I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to produce a good film despite being on a budget.

By your logic, nobody that is starting out in the film industry would be able to get anything done unless they had about £25,000-£50,000 to spend. It’s not black and white.

Obviously if I had that kind of money then I’d gladly be finding paid actors. But 99% of directors in the first 5-10 years in the film industry do not have enough clout or money to do that sadly.

Also, it would only be a 3 day shoot, so it’s not comparable to me asking someone to work for me full time for months for nothing, or do an unpaid internship.

Furthermore, many people who want to work in the film industry are highly passionate about partaking in film work, even if only their food and travel are covered for, because they know that in the long term, the finished film can be added to their portfolio and showreel in order for them to step up to higher tier paid work.

I wasn’t being entitled nor was I complaining.
