I'd not use Trainline for booking tickets unless you get cashback or something though. They charge additional booking fees, although you do get a generally polished app experience for that.
TrainPal is pretty good and is pretty clever at doing split-ticketing.
Or just using a train company's website directly (e.g. ScotRail/LNER/Avanti West Coast).
