I'm currently renting a 1 bedroom flat just south of the river with a private landlord for under £600. Sometimes private landlords can be surprisingly better if they're organised and they give a good impression at a viewing. Check out OpenRent for stuff like that.

In general I've found Glasgow to be super affordable so I wouldn't worry too much with your salary which is decent! For the prices you mentioned you can probably get slightly nicer flats and more central.
