I do 80% of the time as I can move faster on the roads.
Sometimes it's faster to use a pavement rather than follow one way systems. Or sometimes the pavement leads to a shared space like Glasgow Green and it's safer to hop on early with parked cars behind me rather than awkwardly slide over later with cars up my ass.
Sometimes I'm coming from a restaurant after picking up an order and am making my way onto the road. It's safer to be cycling on the road rather than walking onto traffic just to mount my bike.
Sometimes it's to get from A to B faster as I only get paid fairly if I'm as fast as possible.
Sometimes I'm coming off the road to search for building numbers as this requires me to move really slow and is much safer than having cars zoom past while doing this. |
