Haha no I get exactly what you're talking about (and who). It's definitely a Glasgow thing to make out you're worse off than you are and take pride in having had to graft hard even if it's not true, I havent seen that as much elsewhere.
At uni I was always putting up with folk with rich parents who didn't work talking about how they were skint all the time whilst they were out for lunch for the 5th time that week.
If it helps it's not because of your accent, it's just part of their personality. If you had an even thicker Glasgow accent than them they'd still be making a point of how salt of the Earth they are. |
