Comment | If you're not set on a house with a garden, that opens up a lot more! You'll need to head fairly far out of the city for a house with a garden without a pretty big budget but if you're happy with a flat you can go a bit closer to the city.
Really just depends what your priorities are.
Schooling - plenty of really great schools in all the local authority areas but the ones with most competition for places tend to be in East Renfrewshire (Giffnock / Clarkston / Newton Mearns). I think at primary level it's slightly less, but you'll be competing against parents who are trying to get their kids into the secondary schools there and it can get messy.
Area - if you're looking for a flat, there are more options closer to the city like the west end or the southside if you want to be a bit closer to pubs / restaurants. I would say that if you have a young family, being a bit further out with more space / cheaper rent might suit better as long as you're not bothered by a 30-45 min commute to uni each way.
Great advice from the commenter below on schooling but as I said, figure out where you want to live first and then get in touch with the specific council about schooling arrangements.
Best of luck! |
