The thing is, it's not as though I'm describing some left-wing take on the situation.

The disproportionate use of dawn raids in order to create a hostile environment to asylum seekers is literally UK policy. I'm not saying the quiet bit out loud, they're entirely open that this is the intent of the system.

The key bit is disproportionate. Even if you agree with the use of detention pending asylum appeal, it's a massive waste of taxpayer money when asylum seekers going to ground literally is not a problem here.

That's just fundamentally bollocks, asylum seekers aren't allowed to work, and as someone who volunteers for a refugee charity I can tell you the vast, vast majority are just sat at home all day because they have no money, nothing to do and don't know anyone. Bashing in doors at 7am achieves fuck all apart from overtime payments and winning votes with certain parts of the electorate.
