The treatment \*is\* the point, though. Moving them to a 5 star hotel would achieve nothing - that's why they are not doing that. They're moving them to an overcrowded detention centre, run by 'private concerns' (like G4S, with a huge string of failures and abuses behind them). Again, it's mostly about being able to 'punish'. You can't punish someone, or make them feel insecure and make them want to leave (even if leaving means returning to a warzone or a death sentence), if you let them live in a caring community, can you?

These people are here because they want to be here. The point of moving them to detention is to get them 'under control' and away from help. There is no \*good\* reason to pull people out of the community during the review period.
Even after review, there is no good reason to do anything other than notify the people of a failed application, and maybe invite them to appeal, and give them a date to leave. If they fail to leave, that is when further steps should be taken, and those steps should be arrest and immediate deportation - never detention without trial in what amounts to a prison camp.

Scotland welcomes refugees and asylum seekers - the UK, not so much.
