| Comment | As far as I'm aware, there's no evidence that spread is driven by younger people.
Glasgow City's numbers are massively inflated by a few neighbourhoods which aren't particularly studenty areas. (Pollokshields East + West, Maxwell Park, Govanhill West, Gorbals and Hutchesontown).
Young people (like everyone else in the country) have had their lives heavily restricted since early last year in an effort to keep cases down, despite significantly less risk of death themselves (8 of Scotland's 7664 covid deaths were under 25).
I do agree with you that targeting groups more likely to gather might've been a better vaccination approach (though I'll admit to not knowing much about how vaccines affect spread, so I won't comment too much). |
