Completely! I moved away to Edinburgh from near Glasgow for a bit and had it in my head this was a cool, vibrant, beautiful city which is definitely true in many ways... but after being in London, Bristol and travelling around other places for a bit like Medellin or Mexico City it just didn't do it for me anymore. I think I love places where people come from all over (London, Bristol, Berlin), which I wouldn't say is particularly the case in Glasgow. I mean I've literally lived just next to Glasgow my entire life and my friends and I just don't really identify or feel much affinity to the city at all!

I showed my partner Glasgow and it was ROUGH. Litter everywhere, junkies running about, it just looked scabby. He is from London and obviously London has the same issues, but London also has so many different areas AND a world-class city status to back it up. Bristol has scabby bits, but its also extremely quirky, eclectic and has much lovelier weather. I think I've realised that whilst Glasgow is cool, if you're not actually from there or have a reason to be there then there's not a whole lot drawing you to it so it can get harder to ignore the issues once the rose tinted specs come off!
