Sorry to hear. Also, surprised to to hear it's Bishopbriggs. In my experience of the place (I went to school there, family connections, work) I never experienced anything like what you've described, other than a few incidents in the surrounding areas some years back. Hate to say it, but you're probably best keeping your head down and trying to ignore it as best you can until you have the opportunity to move. Like any city, Glasgow has its fair share of problematic areas and people, but what you're describing is by no means typical of the whole place.
