I know myself how it is there. It really isn't that bad. You can certainly "allow" your wife and daughter to walk through there just fine. They could go from Queens park to one of like 10 vegan cafes and then go to like one of like 5 artisan gelato places and make a nice little day of it. It isn't exactly the Favelas of Rio De Janeiro.
