I spent February and March this year in Bridgeton renting a flat with Airbnb while I was looking for somewhere to buy. We stayed literally 5 minutes from Main Street. I would honestly not live there again - it was sort of ok-ish initially because days were shorter and we were in lockdown, but as the days got longer all the shitheads started to come out. Wee neds, as you call them here, dealing drugs in doorways. One day we saw them throw things at passing cars (we walked home a different route).

Massive Union Jack on a pole outside a council estate.

In March when the Rangers won, fireworks chucked around all over (this is on Main Street). Husband and I were driving back, we turned back because fuck that.

Shops wise, you have local shops like Nisa and Premier but not a Coop or even Tesco Express to speak of, which tells you volumes about the investment
level in an area. The post office is right at the end of Main Street, in the shittiest end.

It's a shame because location wise, you're 5 minutes from Glasgow Green, the railway station is very handy and you can walk into the city centre in 20 minutes but the area feels very run down and with potential shit about the hit the fan the moment you look someone the wrong way. I personally would not live there again but for context I'm a 48 year old female with a foreign accent, my husband an English man, so maybe a 20 something year old Scottish guy would be absolutely fine.
