I went to strath denistoun is a decent enough area at a decent price, plenty of students stay there but there's also families and that there as well. It's about 10-20 min walk from the uni. I would probably recommend at least having a look there.

There's also the flats at drygate close to the necropolis, they are basically right beside the uni. I knew some students that stayed there but don't know how much they cost.

There is also a lot of flats around the Saint mungos/ Kennedy Street area, I didn't know anyone who stayed there but they are very close to the uni 5-10 min walk and shouldn't be to expensive

There's the merchant city as well also close to the uni, in the city centre but more expensive and I don't know what it's like in terms of noise and drunk people at night since the merchant city has a fair few bars and restaurants at it.

On the other side of the Clyde there is the quay and plantation area, these are "up and coming" areas but are a decent price though I know a few people that have moved there recently but don't know much about the area. You would probably want to take the subway (which is pretty fast and reliable in Glasgow) or get a bike to get to strahclyde if you stay there.

Like other people said strathy is pretty close to the city centre so you can get a bus or train there easily from pretty much anywhere in Glasgow or the surrounding area.

Hope this is some help
