Also get trainline and use Google maps to see train and bus routes. Depends on your monthly budget, and whether you want to flat share etc. Best option is in town you can be close to your campus and work. But maybe more expensive etc.

If on a budget then:
Get a list of areas that have for example 1, 2 or 3 stops etc from your university

Glasgow has 2 train stations.

Glasgow Central (main station)
&
Queen Street

I prefer trains to buses but just my opinion.

Once you have a list of areas then ask on reddit if the areas are any good.
