Of course agree with all of the comments by others, but I am a huge fan of LinkedIn. Found my first job there while still finishing my dissertation - I would NEVER EVER come across it otherwise.

The only 'catch' with LinkedIn is (in my opinion) it is not really an immediate solution. You would come across much more interesting job opportunities if you have an extensive network of connections there. If you find a company you like, get in touch directly with someone that works there. People are usually fairly responsive as it is much more personal approach than sending emails to 'Dear Sir/Madam'.

Took me around 1 year or so, untill I could say I had a network of pretty cool people in industries I am interested in. Treat it more like a second FB without all the spam posts, but with content you genuinely care about. May sound stupid, but LinkedIn became kind of my main social network and source of newsfeed.

I would really encourage you to set-up a profile, give it a go, add a few connections every week or so and soon you will have a platform with network of people who are interested in similar fileds as you are.

One more thing: don't be affraid to connect with people you don't know! If you find their 'job title' something that would be of interest, just send a connect invitation :)

hope that helps.
