Uniqueness costs.
I'd settle for good quality, attractive housing which is nice to live in.


We would all love a 'character' property. But then look at the people who moved into the refurbed schoolhouse in Battlefield = 'affordable housing' that they can't afford to heat because the radiator ratios/insulation has been cut back on in order to spend money on maintaining character. Result is people moving out en masse or being put into financial difficulties because of their unbearably cold home.


(As someone who runs architectural tours of Glasgow's medieval and victorian past it kills me to say the above but I'm being realistic rather than hopeful.)
