| Comment | You're right about never knowing where to draw the line. It's a very complex issue that probably won't be resolved. However, certain instances of racist or sectarian hatred can't be described as merely a thought crime. It depends on context. There's a huge difference between someone having an offensive rant amongst their mates in the pub and a group of people shouting racist or sectarian abuse at people (just an example.)
By those people? I don't know for sure. I assume the police will have reviewed the abundance of footage of the day and concluded that it shows these people breaking the law and that they should face charges. |
