Comment | As someone who's dog has been attacked more than once by off lead dogs you're unfortunately wrong about people not letting dogs like that off the lead. My dog was well socialised as a puppy but dogs react to their experiences and trauma similar to humans and despite a lot of money on behaviourists and medication she will always be reactive to strange dogs now.
At the end of the day it's just bad manners and rude to let your dog approach an on lead dog, you don't know why they're on the lead and if it's not a dog you know you should check first or keep your dog on a lead if it doesn't have a solid recall. My dog had a operation, after being attacked by an off lead dog funnily enough, and literally two days later she got body slammed by a wild labrador whose owner took forever to come over all whilst my dog was going mad as it jumped all over and ended up bursting half her stitches. |
