Thanks very much for this very comprehensive message! I will look up the organisations you have mentioned, first step is to find a PADI course that is recommended and take the 20m course from there. In the meantime I'm intending to get my strength up by doing some loch swimming. 60m dive to wrecks or scenic dives is certainly the goal!
