Do not volunteer at the British Heart Foundation furniture and electric in Partick. I say this as a former volunteer. Anne and Debbie who are the paid staff (managers) basically treat you like shit and expect you to skip lunch, breaks, etc to move heavy furniture back and forth at their whim while they sit munching a KFC. Absolutely shocking treatment of volunteers who are trying to do the best for charity, and every single person I knew quit after a few weeks of being worked like a slave.

There are a number of soup kitchens and other projects where you directly can help other people, and I would recommend them to the utmost.
