Train to Tyndrum/Ardlui/Crianlarich/Bridge of Orchy (check if you need camping permits first)
There's a citilink bus that goes up the A82, presumably the Fort William one, I passed it dropping off a pack of campers near Glen Orchy at the weekend so ask the driver and he might do you a solid.
Dumfries forest park near Stinchar Bridge is a popular area too. Think there is a bus but no idea where it leaves from.
Another couple of tips for finding specific spots in the areas you're considering:
•Buy an OS Map, will let you see how steep the ground is better than Google maps etc
•Check the website "Geograph", it will show you photos taken in the areas you're looking at so you can judge whether it's suitable for you |
