Its more complicated than that.
: We have *White Flight* from London. (we have tory voters who made their money running away from the problems they created in London. so they are coming up to Glasgow and bringing their bad habits with them). they are pushing up prices.
: We have Americans who have appeared out of nowhere buying flats in the West End & weirdly enough Govanhill. there is a clique of Americans who appeared around 2-3 years back.
: BBC staff moving up to Glasgow are buying flats in Glasgow (Giffnock, Polokshields, Newton Mearns etc)
: Civil Service/Spooks; Because of the lack of homes available in Edinburgh government staff are being shuttled up to Scotland (because of that stupid Queen Elizabeth House in Edinburgh & the one being built in Glasgow), and are buying up flats & houses in Glasgow over the market price. To make matters worse they are all the freakish boarding school-set from London so they are all in for shock up here. the spooks were going around areas in Giffnock putting leaflets through owners doors looking to buy their homes above market value all so their boss "Giffnock Face" Ken MCcallum could get one of those big posh houses just off of Fenwick road. Didnt happen though no one was interested in selling.
Give it another 5 years and Glasgow will be as bad as London in terms of property prices. |
