We were in the toon with my mother-in-law who is from abroad and the Orange Walk halted all the traffic, and my mother-in-law who is Catholic says "Oh how nice! A marching band!". She was less impressed when we explained that they play songs about being up to their knees in her blood. Then we had to explain the whole bigotry deal and she looked baffled and horrified. Although I have eff all to do with it I was ashamed of how we look to those outside of our backward hate bubble. |
