The colours are a nod to the red and blonde sandstone of the area, obviously without being the same "Glasgow tenement" form (which I think is simply prohibitively expensive to replicate these days, even if there was demand for it). I'd be keen to see more pictures to get a sense of how the heights compare.
It's a big step up and much more in fitting with the area than the last proposal, and an even bigger step up from the Arcade. Only suggestion is it could've been stepped back a bit from the street edge to give more space for pedestrians / outdoor seating.
But maybe this can be fixed with some of the roadspace on Kilmarnock Rd being given over to other uses in future anyway. |
