There are big changes coming in relation to transport. Bus companies, though not being taken over by the city, are being pushed to adopt new fare schemes over the next few years. We'll also have a joint multi-mode ticket in place in a few years too.

There's also meant to be a big top-down revision of bus stop placement and bus priority routes, which should lead to faster journey times.

Transport in Glasgow's definitely not what it could be, but it's not a million miles away. We've got relatively good bus and train provision for a city this size.

Of course as you say it's not the same everywhere. The outer estates like Pollok and Castlemilk, Drumchapel and Easterhouse don't have great transport provision. Partly that's because they were built from the ground up with cars in mind.

Shawlands is very well connected by bus and train though. Where possible, we should be building fewer car parking spaces. It's not a good use of space in a dense area, and acts as a disincentive for people to use public transport in the first place.
