Comment | The lack of integrated ticketing and all round poor customer service / opaqueness of bus ticket prices clouds a lot of people's view I think.
But you're right. Comparing pure levels of service to other UK cities, we've got it good. We're not bad for European cities our size either. Great suburban rail network, loads of buses, even a subway on top of that. Ticket prices and lack of integration is the thing that's holding it all back.
My suspicion though - and this might be controversial - is that the people who complain most about Glasgow's public transport are the one that use it least.
That's not to say people who use it don't have complaints about it. Just... I think the negative perception is mostly amongst people who drive, and whose routines (driving in traffic, perhaps living further out from the centre, etc) colour their perception of public transport. |
